S: “Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction. For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart and always ready on your lips. I am teaching you today—yes, you— so you will trust in the LORD.”
Proverbs 22:17-19 NLT
“Commit yourself to instruction; listen carefully to words of knowledge. Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them. Physical discipline may well save them from death. My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! Everything in me will celebrate when you speak what is right." Proverbs 23:12-16 NLT
“My child, listen and be wise: Keep your heart on the right course.” Proverbs 23:19 NLT
“Do your planning and prepare your fields before building your house.” Proverbs 24:27 NLT
O: The Scriptures from these 3 readings all point to the 3 things that will help me to stop punishing myself, 1 receiving God's love, 2 renewing my mind by studying his word and 3 gaining wisdom and understanding.
A: These are not just scriptures chosen for SOAP. I need to mediate on them and allow them to soak into my heart. For they are the foundation of truth to replace the hurt. They are my new coping skill! Listen, apply, keep in my heart and ready on my lips. Learn from biblical instruction and grow through physical discipline.
