But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”” 1 Samuel 15:17-19, 22-23 NLT
“Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the LORD’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded. But now, please forgive my sin and come back with me so that I may worship the LORD.” But Samuel replied, “I will not go back with you! Since you have rejected the LORD’s command, he has rejected you as king of Israel.”” 1 Samuel 15:24-26 NLT
““Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” “Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.” But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the LORD be with you!”” 1 Samuel 17:32-37 NLT
“David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today the LORD will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! And everyone assembled here will know that the LORD rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the LORD’s battle, and he will give you to us!””
1 Samuel 17:45-47 NLT
O: Not only does he sin, he doesn't take ownership of it. David now is own the scene, full of spirit, confident and courageous. He asks what the reward for killing Goliath would be. He goes in front of Saul and says, I don't care about the reward, the fame, the pride or anything else. I'm fighting because he has defied the Lord our God. As his enemy is throwing insults at him, he says the Lord will conquer you, I will kill you for all will know there is a God! David's why was bigger then himself and Therfore was able to defeat the enemy that was bigger then himself. When we are called and full of the spirit our families will misjudge our motives, those above us may doubt us and our enemy will insult us but when we ignore there ignorance and pursue our calling which God at the center, Gid will conquer all! The battle is the Lords, he will give it to us.
A: God has commanded me not just to fulfill my gift and calling but also daily commands I need to follow. If I don't follow them I'm not fir for what he has in store for me. I never want to hear those words, I made a mistake by gifting you as a wife, mother, student, and/or speaker. When I fail, I own it, admit it and repent. I am a chosen generation, a royal preisthood. Therfore I am full of the spirit as I walk in obedience God has already conquered it all.
P: You're a good good father, it who you are, it's who you are and I'm loved by you, it's who I am, it's who I am. You're a good good father. You're my Heavenly Father and there's nothing you can't do. I just want to praise you for conquering it all! There's no man to strong, no family to unbelieving and no enemy too fearful because I have you on my side and in my heart. Help me as I take in your word and memorize so I can use it to encourage and to fight against temptation. You are wonderful!!!! You're a good good father!!!! Thank for who you are, who you are. I'm blessed to be loved by you, it's who I am, who I am and I love you!!!! I praise you in the wonderful name of Jesus, amen.
