S: Jusges 11:1-11 Summarized - Jephthah was a great warrior, although his mother was a prostittue. - His half brothers did not want him to have any of their fathers inheritance so they chased him away. - He fled and had a band of worthless rebels following him. - In the mist of war Israel reached out to Jephthah to help them fight by being their commander. - Jephthah responded, aren't you guys the ones who hated me and drove me out of my fathers house? And you want me to come and fight for you? Why do you come to me now in times of trouble? - The elders said, because we need you. There is a certain skill set as a great warrior that comes from being birthed from a prostittue and having your half brothers chase you away from what's yours. We need you great warrior. Lead us in battle and rule over us. - Still in shock Jephthah asks again for clarity and to make sure he understood what he was hearing. You all want me to fight for you and If I come with you and IF the Lord gives me victory, are you really going to make me ruler over the people, all the people of Gilead? - The elders said, the Lord is witness, I PROMISE YOU, we will do whatever you say. - With that Jephthath went with the elders and he was made ruler and commander. - Then, IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD, Jephthath addressed his people. - See, what our haters who are also family don't know is that even if you look down on us from our upbringing, if you kick us out of what belongs to us we cling to Gods family for he calls us his child, he has given us his inheritance, he says he will never leave us nor forsake us, I will make your enemy your foot stool, you will be the head and not the tail, you will be blessed in the presence of your enemies because we chose to be in the presence of our God! - 11:22a IT WAS THE LORD, the God of Israel he took away the land from the Ammonites and he gave it to Israel. - He gives and takes away!!!! - 11:29a THE APIRIT OF THE LORD CAME UPON JEPHTHAH, the great warrior whose mother was a prostitute. God can use what defined the parent to refine the child! - 11:30 Jephthah vowed to the Lord, IF you give me victory, I will give to the Lord whatever comes out of my house when I return j triumph. I will sacrifice it! The Lord gave him victory and his only daughter met him as he returned home in triumph. She was willing to be the sacrifice and he kept his vow to the Lord.
A: At what cost am I willing to keep my vow to God concerning my health and my wealth? Jephthah sacrificed his child, his only daughter. I am a great warrior, a mighty hero, a phenomenal speaker, a great wife and a good mom. Although I grew up in an abusive home and molested at a young age. Although I was sexually active at 11 and realized I had a sex addiction at 21. Although the violent environment I grew up in gave me a false identity as long as I remain in the presence of The Lord and seek him first I will have the desires of my heart.
P: YOU'RE STILL GOD!!!! You haven't left me and there are things I still don't understand but what I know is that I made a vow to you when I was 13 to follow you. I later made a vow that no matter how tough things got I will let nothing come and separate me from you. You are my resting place and my hiding place. You have given me freedom when even today people only see me through the lends of the false Liz. I have vowed to change my health and wealth for your name sake. I need help oh Lord. Please give me the victory. I know your still the same God of Israel today. You haven't left me. You continue to remind me of who I am in you and the promises that you've made. I never want to forget that in the mist of losing weight and building a business. If I commit myself to the 21 day fix, if you give me the victory over my health I will offer my only child as a sacrifice into you. That I will not lead her into an unhealthy lifestyle but teach her physical and spiritual health. Thank you for being God and I praise you for the victory! You are wonderful!!!! In Jesus name, amen!
