- The Great Commission is your commission, and doing your part is the secret to living a life of significance.
(Rick Warren Daily Devotion)
- If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. (Mark 8:35 NLT)
S: I ripped the kingdom away from the family of David and gave it to you. But you have not been like my servant David, who obeyed my commands and followed me with all his heart and always did whatever I wanted. (1 Kings 14:8 NLT)
But for David’s sake, the LORD his God allowed his descendants to continue ruling, shining like a lamp, and he gave Abijam a son to rule after him in Jerusalem. For David had done what was pleasing in the LORD’s sight and had obeyed the LORD’s commands throughout his life, except in the affair concerning Uriah the Hittite. (1 Kings 15:4-5 NLT)
Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the LORD has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting. (Psalms 133:3 NLT)
O: What a powerful phrase, God rejected there excuses. No matter the simplicity or the extreme of an excuse God rejects it. He's not in the business of pity parties and what it's. He wants us to make a decision to follow him than to follow him with all our heart. Sure we may be afraid, those are the worldly things we have come to for comfort but God rejects that excuse and declares over us, go where I sent you, say what I tell you, I will be with you and I will take care of you. All we must do is our part, go. It's crazy. He's literally saying I got you, just go. Just give your life for my sake and for the sake of the gospel and save it. David gave his life for God's sake and for David's sake God continued to allow David's descendants to rule over Judah despite them not following his commands.
A: I look at the life of David. God made a promise to him and his descendants. After his son Solomon was king no longer will the Israelites be ruled by David's descendants. But God remembered his promise to David and gave Judah to David's descendants to rule over. Yet even then there were kings who didn't rule over Judah as David did but God never forgot David's promise. David set the example. God says, you haven't been like my servant David. He obeyed my commands, he followed me with all his heart and he always did whatever I wanted. That's all God is asking of us. Liz, serve me. Obey my commands, follow me with all your heart and always do what I say no matter what. I will reject and excuse.
P: Sovereign God, it pleases you. Everything David had done was pleasing in your sight and he obeyed you with his life except with Bathsheba. Oh wonderful Father of it pleases you I come, knew bowed and body bent to your throne of grace. Except in my marriage and before I started a relationship with you and became free of my oppression. I want to live like David lived as your servant; obeying your commands, following you with all your heart and always doing what you say no matter what. Reject every excuse dear God may I be the shining light. If it please you I come into your presence, humbly at your throne. Take all of me and do with me as you will. I want to give my life for your sake and for the sake of the good news, save it God. Make me ever new and may I live in harmony with John, where you oh Lord have pronounced your blessing and life everlasting. I pray this I'm the mighty name of your son Jesus, amen.
